Washington Heights: New Growth for Historic Neighborhoods
How it happened
On behalf of a Houston-based developer of retail shopping centers, we supported the investment of over $6 million in public infrastructure to develop the Washington Heights shopping center. We utilized a Section 380 Agreement, which means the developer advanced the funds and received reimbursement from the City of Houston.
Results
The Walmart-anchored shopping center opened in 2013, bringing more restaurants, retail options and job opportunities to two of Houston’s oldest neighborhoods, Houston Heights and West End. The total cost was approximately $100,000,000.
